TBC was formed in 1994, by Jim Gilbert and Jimmy Barfield. They wanted to create an experience for their audience while staying true to their roots and their influences like Restless Heart, Brooks and Dunn and Exile. Like those bands,TBC has been recognized for their superb 3 and 4 part harmonies.“We work very hard on our live performance, whether it’s harmonies, song transitions or simply the way we present the song. We try and bring the audience closer, like they are on stage with us.We want that connection;we want the audience to feel the emotion we feel when we play music.
We want to create that memory that stays for a lifetime.”In the early years they honed their sound and style by playing the country bars and honky-tonks of northeastern Indiana and northwestern Ohio. TBC grew a large, loyal following, earning them house band gigs at the iconic but long since closed Shorty’s (Fort Wayne, IN) and Farmers Exchange(Larwill, IN). In 1997 the band released its first album “Uncommon Ground”which sold thousands of copies without management or record label support. The buzz from their release along with the reputation of their live performances garnered them a lot of attention. As a result,TBC has opened for many Nashville recording artists and headlined festivals all over Indiana, Ohio and Michigan.Over the years TBC has continued to grow and expand its fan base, which they like to call “Cheyenne Country”. They regularly travel as far south as Louisville KY and Nashville,TN. and into Northern Michigan.
TBC is also back in the studio working on a full length album, this time with the support of a record label. There are still a few details in the works so they have not released who but they expect to release that information in the coming months. All the songs are in pre-production and they anticipate a release date sometime in late 2018.“We want to create a record that sounds modern and appeals to young and old audiences, while showing reverence to where we came from.We believe we have all those pieces in place now.We have a label who is supporting us with production, songwriting and eventually distribution and marketing.”TBC also works with several charities in their local and surrounding areas. One of the most special to them being the “Rockin’ Country New Year’s Eve”, sponsored by the Auburn Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Truck dealership in Auburn IN. They have played this event along with their friends in the band Choice for 4 consecutive years. This event raises tens of thousands of dollars for local charities and has sold out every year.
